Dry Needling

Dry needling is an advanced technique that uses a very thin needle to target tight or overactive muscles that may be contributing to pain, movement limitations, or pelvic floor dysfunction. Our providers have advanced training in using Dry Needling to treat both Pelvic Floor and Orthopedic conditions!

When the needle reaches a sensitive area in the muscle, it can create a small “twitch response”—a quick contraction that helps the muscle release tension and reset. This can improve blood flow, decrease pain, and restore normal muscle function.

At Rally Physical Therapy, dry needling may also be combined with gentle electrical stimulation to create a rhythmic contraction and relaxation of the muscle. This helps the muscle fatigue and relax, similar to exercise, which can improve mobility, decrease pain, and support recovery.

When used alongside hands-on treatment, movement retraining, and strength work, dry needling can help your body move better, recover faster, and get you back to the activities you love.

At Rally, our goal isn’t just to reduce pain. It’s to help you build strength, confidence, and resilience so you can stay active through every stage of life.

Pregnancy and postpartum bring significant changes to the body. This can sometimes lead to tight or overactive muscles that contribute to discomfort in areas such as the low back, hips, glutes, neck, shoulders, or even the pelvic floor.

Dry needling can be a helpful tool to relieve muscle tension, improve mobility, and decrease pain during pregnancy and the postpartum period.

At Rally Physical Therapy, dry needling is always combined with movement, strengthening, and pelvic floor rehabilitation to help you return to exercise, daily activities, and motherhood with more comfort and confidence.

Safety Note: Dry needling during pregnancy is performed with careful consideration of trimester, symptoms, and medical history. Certain areas of the body are avoided during pregnancy, and treatment is only performed when appropriate by a trained physical therapist. During your evaluation, we will discuss whether dry needling is a safe and beneficial option for you.
