Pregnancy and Postpartum

Pregnancy brings incredible change, and your body deserves informed, supportive care through every stage. As your body adapts during pregnancy and recovers postpartum, prioritizing movement plays an important role in both immediate and long-term health.

Hormonal changes can impact muscle and bone health, but research shows that resistance and cardiovascular exercise during pregnancy and postpartum are safe and beneficial when appropriately guided (Watts et al., 2021, Journal of Women’s Health). Studies following pregnant individuals participating in higher-level training found no increase in adverse outcomes (Prevett et al., 2023, International Urogynecology Journal). Additional research suggests that continuing core training during pregnancy may support a more efficient labor and delivery process (Gluppe, Engh, & Bø, 2023, Journal of Physiotherapy).

Our pelvic health physical therapists help modify exercise throughout pregnancy and guide a safe, confident return to movement postpartum. With the right support, gentle exercise can begin as early as two weeks after delivery.

Whether you’re pregnant, postpartum, or planning ahead, we’re here to help you move with strength and confidence.
